On the 22nd of February, the kick-off meeting of the European project “Re-Cycling. Bike Reuse and Riding Fair”, funded by the Erasmus Sport Program, was held in Milan. The international event was hosted by the Lead partner, the Directorate of Sport of Lombardy Region. The partner IBIS Consortium opened the round table by presenting the Austrian, French, Macedonian and German partners, and the project workplan. During the round table, the Unit Sport of DG EAC and the Joint Research Centre illustrated the EU strategies and funds for the Sports sector and stressed the importance of green skills training in this field. Then, together with the General Federation of Italian Artisans and Craftsmen, the Milan Chamber of Commerce and AMSA, which is the Greater Milan Area waste management company, the issue of the biking sector’s sustainability was addressed and some initiatives to support it, implemented at the regional level, were presented. All speakers agreed on the key role of a new generation of young, highly aware actors as ambassadors of green, healthy, sustainable lifestyles in their local environments.
